Lauded for his versatility as a performer and accomplished in opera, musical theater, and oratorio, tenor Jonathan Zeng has performed throughout the United States with companies such as the Cincinnati Opera, Central City Opera, Tulsa Opera, Opera Memphis, Utah Festival Opera, Opera Illinois, Muddy River Opera, the Michigan Opera Academy, the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, CCM Opera, and Western Illinois University Opera Theatre. Jonathan’s roles include Frederic in Pirates of Penzance, Tamino in The Magic Flute, the title role in Candide, Nanki Poo in The Mikado, Goro in Madama Butterfly, Baglioni in Rappaccini’s Daughter, Beppe in I Pagliacci, Schmidt in Werther,  Matteo Borsa in Rigoletto, Rolf in The Sound of Music, and Sir Lionel in Camelot. He has performed as a soloist in Bach’s B Minor Mass, Magnificat, and Weihnachts-Oratorium, in Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. He has appeared as a soloist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, the Utah Festival Opera Orchestra, the CCM Philharmonia, the CCM Concert Orchestra, and the Western Illinois University Symphony Orchestra. An avid proponent for arts education, Jonathan performs for Cincinnati Opera Outreach initiatives and teaches general music. Jonathan completed his MM in Voice at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a BA in Music Education from the Western Illinois University School of Music.
